My take

I’d consider the LM2236SP as an EGO upgrade when adjustable bagging and mulching balance, drive assistance and a rust-resistant composite deck fit your priorities. The standard kit includes one 10 Ah battery and 700 W charger. A simpler 21-inch EGO can be a better purchase when those extra controls have little value; the aluminum-deck LM2206SP is a different construction choice.

Specifications and practical trade-offs

Documented manufacturer and manual information for this exact model. Published weight bases differ; deck size is not automatically cutting width.

Height adjustmentEight positions from 1–4 inches; current manual p 13.
Published weight68.5 lb. Without battery pack, current manufacturer-linked operator manual p 13; older catalog 70.3 lb differs.

Supplied equipment: Grass bag and frame; Factory-installed High Performance blade set; High-Lift Bagging lower blade; Side-discharge chute; Operator manual.

Advantages

  • Five-position Precision Mulch Control permits full bagging, full mulching and intermediate combinations.
  • High Performance and High-Lift Bagging lower-blade choices; three selectable blade-speed modes.
  • 10 Ah battery and 700 W charger in the standard kit; blade-independent self-propel in manual.

Drawbacks

  • More controls and blade configurations to understand than a basic push mower.
  • A substantial 68.5 lb without battery in the currently linked manual; folding and drive do not remove lifting needs.
  • Higher blade speed reduces runtime; the 75-minute claim is tied to the lowest-speed mode in the manual.

Who benefits from the adjustable clipping route

This mower is particularly interesting when your weekly routine falls between collecting everything and returning every clipping. During faster growth you might prefer to remove some material, then move toward more mulching as conditions ease. The five-position clip selector offers an integrated way to make that change without treating a removable plug as the only choice.

Its 22-inch Super Composite deck also creates a meaningful construction alternative to EGO’s aluminum model. Composite resists rust and does not require the buyer to choose metal simply to reach the more adjustable control package. That is an equipment distinction, not proof that one deck lasts longer in every yard.

Move on if your main need is the lightest manageable mower or a low-cost way to maintain a tiny patch. Powered drive helps during mowing, but the current manual publishes 68.5 pounds without a battery. You still need to turn, store and possibly lift the machine.

Identify LM2236SP before comparing the offer

The standard LM2236SP kit has one 10 Ah 56 V ARC Lithium battery and a 700 W Turbo Charger. LM2230SP identifies the underlying mower in the linked operator manual. Do not confuse that bare-machine designation with a complete package, or assume the similarly named LM2244SP-2 two-pack configuration has the same battery arrangement.

The mower manual lists the catcher bag and frame, a factory-installed High Performance blade set, a separate High-Lift Bagging lower blade and a side-discharge chute. The integrated clipping selector means the mowing functions do not depend on a loose conventional mulch insert. Confirm every removable accessory in the actual seller’s contents list.

Five positions rather than an on / off plug

The manual describes a clip-selector knob operating a sliding door. At BAG the route is fully open for collecting or side discharge; at MULCH it is closed for returning clippings. Three intermediate positions partly close that route so some material enters the bag and some returns to the lawn.

Treat those positions as adjustments to try against the grass in front of you, not fixed percentages of clippings collected. Species, moisture, height and blade setup can change the result. The manufacturer’s system description does not establish that every intermediate setting produces a superior finish on every lawn.

This control also has an ownership implication. If the selector becomes difficult to move, the manual points to grass buildup on the sliding door and calls for clearing accumulated material. Stop the mower, wait for the blade to stop and remove the battery before inspection. Forcing a jammed control is not part of the intended adjustment.

The lower blade and speed setting do different jobs

Select Cut combines an upper blade with an interchangeable lower blade. The installed High Performance setup and supplied High-Lift lower blade provide alternative cutting arrangements. They are not extra blades to stack together arbitrarily. Choose the approved arrangement described in the manual and retain the specified hardware.

The manual identifies AB2211D and AB2212D as replacement blade-set families. Use those exact compatibility references and the current manufacturer listing, rather than assuming a 22-inch blade for the aluminum mower fits the Super Composite mower. Shared deck size does not establish mounting or blade-system compatibility.

Blade speed is a separate control. The product page calls its three choices ECO, Normal and Turbo; the linked manual labels them 1,2 and TURBO. Higher speed can increase lift or cutting capacity, but the manual explicitly warns that it significantly affects runtime. You should not expect the advertised maximum endurance while always using the most demanding mode.

What the 75-minute claim actually describes

EGO advertises up to 75 minutes using the included 10 Ah battery. The linked manual makes the setting more specific: its 75-minute estimate uses Mode 1, the lowest blade-speed setting. It also states that grass condition affects the result. This is a manufacturer planning figure, not a Lawn Current timed mowing session.

A reliable purchase decision leaves headroom for your own route and conditions. A dense lawn, frequent turns, collection stops or higher blade speed can make an actual session different from a light-load estimate. Buying a larger pack may extend a session, but it also adds cost and weight; compare the complete system you would actually own.

The manufacturer describes roughly 60-minute charging with the 10 Ah pack and 700 W charger. Charging conditions and battery temperature still matter, so do not plan a guaranteed same-length mowing-and-recharge cycle from the two headline figures. Keep the supplied battery and charger instructions with the mower manual.

Drive assistance, handling and storage

Touch Drive uses hand-pressure controls with a separate speed dial. The operator manual confirms that the drive can operate without rotating the blade, which can be useful when returning the mower to storage. It also explains that the dial’s lowest position turns the drive off; unfamiliar control position should be checked before assuming a fault.

At the end of a row, release drive assistance as needed for the turn. The manual notes that pulling backward immediately after disengaging can temporarily lock the wheels, and describes moving slightly forward before repositioning. This is a useful operating detail to know before judging how the mower will behave around many obstacles.

The handles and side rails fold for storage, and the manual identifies interlocks that require correct operating position. Assembled and folded dimensions were not verified. Measure gates, doorways and the storage area, and plan separately for steps or lifting. A drive system does not remove those access limits.

Maintenance and warranty details to retain

Keep the underside and sliding door clear of clippings using the approved cleaning method. Remove the battery before service and follow the manual for blade removal, assembly and tightening. The manual specifically says not to use water around the drive shaft and motor fan; weather resistance should not be read as permission to hose the machine.

EGO lists a 10-year limited deck warranty, a 5-year limited tool warranty and a 5-year battery warranty with registration for this kit. Eligibility and terms still depend on the actual purchase and use. Keep the seller’s identity, receipt, serial number and registration records, rather than assuming any marketplace listing establishes coverage.

Current manual weight is 68.5 lb without battery, while an older catalog gave 70.3 lb. This review uses the currently linked operator document and records that revision difference. It does not turn the discrepancy into an invented measured handling comparison.

Two EGO alternatives with clear reasons to choose them

The LM2236SP earns its place through clipping adjustment and composite construction. These alternatives change the decision in specific ways.

The final checks

Return to the [main electric mower guide]( / ) if buyer needs such as small-yard access or corded simplicity matter more. The case for spending on this kit is strongest when its clipping adjustments will actually be used.

  • Confirm LM2236SP, one 10 Ah pack and 700 W charger.
  • Check the bag / frame, spare lower blade and side chute.
  • Match replacement blades to Super Composite compatibility.
  • Verify actual seller, condition, return terms and warranty eligibility.
  • Use the received manual revision for operation, weight basis and maintenance.

Common questions

Does LM2236SP include two batteries?

The standard LM2236SP kit contains one 10 Ah pack. The separately identified LM2244SP-2 is a different two-pack configuration; read the complete model code.

What is Precision Mulch Control?

A five-position clip selector adjusts a sliding door between full bagging and full mulching, with intermediate bagging / mulching combinations. It does not promise fixed collection percentages.

Is it lighter than the aluminum EGO?

The current LM2230SP manual lists 68.5 lb without battery; the LM2206SP manual lists 83.8 lb without battery. These are published specifications, not our measured ready-to-mow weights.

Is 75 minutes a tested guarantee?

No. EGO’s estimate uses the 10 Ah pack, and the manual ties 75 minutes to Mode 1. Higher blade speed and grass conditions change the result; Lawn Current has not timed this mower.
