Specifications and practical trade-offs
Documented manufacturer and manual information for this exact model. Published weight bases differ; deck size is not automatically cutting width.
| Power / drive | 56V ARC Lithium; Self-propelled |
|---|---|
| Deck / cutting path | 21-inch deck |
| Included battery | 1 × 10Ah |
| Charger | 700W Turbo Charger |
| Height adjustment | 1–4 inches; 8 settings in currently linked manual, p13. |
| Published weight | 55.56 lb. Without battery; mulching insert fitted. Current operator manual p13. |
Supplied equipment: Grass bag and frame; Mulching insert; Upper blade and installed mulching lower blade; High-lift lower blade; Extended-runtime lower blade; Side-discharge chute.
Advantages
- Three lower-blade choices plus upper blade.
- Adjustable Touch Drive; folding storage.
Drawbacks
- Changing lower blades requires safe isolation, tools and the correct reassembly.
- Large battery kit is more than a tiny lawn needs.
Who should choose it—and who should move on
Consider the work your current mower makes awkward. If pushing effort and switching between collecting and returning clippings are both recurring issues, this kit addresses two useful needs. If your lawn is small, level and usually finished quickly, a large battery and powered drive may add more equipment than convenience.
This is also a mower for someone willing to choose a cutting setup. You do not need to swap blades every week, but the extra options have little value if they stay in a drawer. The high-lift and extended-runtime lower blades address different priorities; match the setup to collection, mulching or battery planning rather than treating every blade as interchangeable.
Buy the kit you actually need
EGO’s configurations distinguish the complete kit from the mower alone. Read the full model code in the seller’s description; a photograph of a battery beside a mower is insufficient confirmation.
The linked manual lists the bag and frame, mulch insert, discharge attachment and interchangeable lower blades. Keep the spare blades labeled so that a later service or replacement does not turn into guesswork.
| Model | Battery and charger | Buying implication |
|---|---|---|
| LM2156SP | One 10Ah 56V pack; 700W Turbo Charger | The complete kit assessed here. |
| LM2156SP-2 | Two 10Ah packs; 700W charger | A different package; do not confuse spare capacity with two active battery bays. |
| LM2150SP | Battery and charger excluded | Compare the total cost after any additional battery purchase. |
The upper blade stays; the lower blade changes
The Select Cut arrangement combines an upper blade with your chosen lower blade. EGO supplies lower options for mulching, higher-lift bagging and extended runtime. Those are alternative setups, rather than three lower blades installed together.
The ownership trade-off is simple: more control over clipping handling also means more parts to identify correctly. The manual lists complete sets AB2100D, AB2101D and AB2102D. The similarly named AB2102 single blade belongs to another EGO arrangement; a shared nominal deck size does not establish compatibility.
For a homeowner who collects clippings during fast growth but mulches during ordinary weekly cuts, that flexibility is useful. For someone who always uses one mode, a simpler cutter can be a more sensible purchase.
What the runtime evidence actually tells you
EGO advertises up to 75 minutes with the 10Ah battery. Its linked manual estimates 75, 60 and 40 minutes across light, medium and heavy loads. Treat those as planning references from the manufacturer.
The manual’s range is more useful for planning than the single headline maximum. Its 40-minute heavy-load estimate is much shorter than its 75-minute light-load estimate with the same specified pack. Those are EGO’s scenarios, not measurements from this review; they show why you should allow capacity for the cutting load instead of buying solely on the longest figure.
Allow a margin if finishing in one session matters. Missed cuts, dense growth and a full collection bag can make your real job different from a headline demonstration. A claim of minutes also does not tell you how many awkward corners or bag-emptying stops your lawn contains.
Drive controls and storage deserve a practical check
The operator manual permits self-propel without blade rotation. That can be useful when returning to storage after mowing. It also describes handle and clamp interlocks; these must be correctly engaged for operation.
Before buying, consider the route from storage to grass as carefully as the lawn itself. A powered drive does not lift a mower over a step, make a narrow doorway wider or remove the need to turn around planting beds. If possible, try the handle and drive engagement with the machine safely stopped in a store.
For ownership, the manual calls for battery removal before service and cleaning without water around the motor fan and drive. The folded mower needs stable storage; flat storage is preferred where practical. Leave room to remove and store the bag as well.
Two alternatives that change the decision
These comparisons are editorial choices based on equipment differences, rather than a controlled cutting ranking. Compare complete kits and the effort they save you.
| Alternative | Why choose it | What you give up or accept |
|---|---|---|
| EGO LM2114 | A simpler push mower; 45.2lb without battery in its manual. | No drive assistance or Select Cut lower-blade choices. |
| EGO LM2206SP | Cast-aluminum deck, selectable blade speeds and larger bag. | 83.8lb without battery versus 55.56lb here; handling matters. |
Before you order
Our conclusion favors the LM2156SP when its drive and clipping flexibility solve actual weekly problems. Revisit the main electric mower guide if another buyer need is more important.
- Match the full kit code, included battery capacity and charger.
- Confirm the received height-adjustment revision: the current manual specifies eight settings from 1 to 4 inches; older material differs.
- Check the actual seller, condition, return terms and manufacturer warranty eligibility.
- Keep the blade-family codes with your maintenance records.
- Check your access and lifting route; assembled and folded dimensions were not verified here.
Common questions
Is the LM2156SP self-propelled?
Yes. The linked manual also describes operating the drive without rotating the cutting blades. Read the received instructions before using that function.
Does the standard kit include two batteries?
No. LM2156SP is the one-10Ah kit. LM2156SP-2 is the separately identified two-pack configuration.
Can I hose underneath it?
EGO’s instructions call for cleaning without water around the relevant drive and motor areas. Remove the battery and follow the exact manual rather than assuming weather resistance allows hosing.
Were these runtime results measured by Lawn Current?
No. Runtime estimates come from EGO’s product information and operator manual. The recommendation connects the documented kit and blade choices with homeowner needs; it does not report a Lawn Current timed mowing test.
