Decide whether pushing is a benefit or a burden
A simpler mower can be a satisfying choice when it removes features you do not need. On a straightforward lawn, the appeal is direct: fewer operating choices and no drive-speed routine to learn. That is different from assuming every homeowner should save money by doing more physical work.
Consider your hardest ordinary session, not just a pleasant short cut. Dense growth, repeated turns, a collection bag filling up and the route back to storage all affect effort. If those already make you postpone mowing, a drive-assisted mower may earn its place even on a modest lawn.
LM2114 and LM2114SP are different models
EGO lists the reviewed LM2114 kit with one 6Ah 56V battery and a 320W charger. It is a push mower. A review of the LM2114SP cannot supply test results for this exact model, even where the products share parts or appearance.
The linked operator manual covers several machines. Drive instructions within that family manual apply only to the identified SP models; their presence does not give the push mower a hidden self-propel function.
| Model | Purchase distinction | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| LM2114 | Push kit with 6Ah battery and 320W charger | The configuration assessed here. |
| LM2112 | Push kit with 4Ah battery | Different included capacity. |
| LM2110 | Bare push mower | Battery and charger excluded. |
| LM2114SP | Self-propelled model | Do not transfer its drive experience or test runtime to LM2114. |
A single blade keeps the cutting setup straightforward
The family manual lists AB2102 for the single-blade arrangement. That is different from the AB2102D stacked High-Lift set used by Select Cut models. One letter changes the accessory family.
For the buyer, the larger question is whether you want to tune the mower around different clipping jobs. A single blade avoids managing a collection of interchangeable lower blades. It also removes that particular flexibility: buying the LM2114 is not a cheaper route to the same Select Cut setup.
If your lawn is generally maintained on schedule and you use one clipping mode most of the time, simplicity has a practical appeal. If you frequently alternate between collection and mulching and want specialized blade choices, compare the LM2156SP before committing.
The 6Ah battery needs a realistic mowing plan
The linked manual gives approximate LM2110-family runtime of 55, 40 and 30 minutes with the specified 6Ah pack across light, medium and heavy loads. Those figures are manufacturer estimates. EGO also lists approximately 80-minute charging with the kit’s 320W charger.
The useful buying question is whether your normal job leaves a margin. A small lawn that occasionally gets long is different from a large open lawn that is always kept short. A charge break can be acceptable if you have other garden jobs to do; it is frustrating if mowing must fit into one tight period.
An existing compatible pack may help with continuity, but compare the whole routine rather than assuming any EGO battery provides the kit’s headline runtime. A larger pack also changes the machine you are pushing and carrying.
Full-size mowing with uncomplicated adjustments
The manufacturer specifies a 21-inch deck and seven height settings from 1.25 to 4 inches using one adjustment lever. The manual lists 45.2lb without the battery. These are specifications rather than our measured handling results.
One-lever adjustment is convenient if you change mowing height seasonally or tackle sections with different needs. The absence of a drive system may also make the controls more immediately understandable. Neither point tells you whether the mower feels comfortable to your height, reach or usual pace, so handle fit remains worth checking.
The bag, mulch insert and discharge chute give you clipping choices. Think about where collected material will go and whether you have space to remove and store the bag; a mower’s deck footprint is only part of its ownership footprint.
Storage and cleaning are still maintenance tasks
The manual describes fully extended, locked side rails for operation, and folded storage with the battery removed. Stable placement matters when stored upright; flat storage is preferred where possible. It also calls for cleaning without water around relevant motor areas.
That makes this simpler than a fuel-engine routine, but it does not make blade care, debris removal or inspection disappear. Plan somewhere dry for the battery and charger and keep the blade code with the manual. If the mower will not start after unfolding, check the prescribed handle setup before assuming an electrical failure.
Two alternatives for different lawns
The comparison is about useful differences, rather than an unverified claim that one machine cuts every grass type better.
| Alternative | Choose it when | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| EGO LM2156SP | Drive assistance and interchangeable lower blades would improve your routine. | A larger kit and heavier battery-excluded body. |
| Greenworks 25322 | Compact access and turning matter more than full-size coverage. | Narrower 16-inch path, separate 40V system and slower listed recharge. |
Before buying the push kit
Our editorial recommendation favors the LM2114 for simplicity when the owner and lawn suit a push mower. Use the main guide to compare other priorities.
- Read the complete model code, including any SP suffix.
- Confirm the 6Ah battery, 320W charger and clipping attachments.
- Check seller condition, return terms and warranty eligibility.
- Consider the lawn at its most demanding usual growth.
- Order blades by exact model and part code, rather than deck-size shorthand.
Common questions
Is EGO LM2114 self-propelled?
No. It is the push kit. LM2114SP is a separately identified self-propelled model.
Does it have Select Cut stacked blades?
No. The linked manual lists the AB2102 single blade for this family. Do not confuse that with a D-suffix stacked-blade set.
Can a larger EGO battery be used?
EGO lists compatibility with its 56V ARC Lithium packs. A larger compatible pack changes weight and does not guarantee a particular area or runtime.
Is the 55-minute figure a Lawn Current test?
No. It is EGO’s manufacturer claim for the specified battery configuration, not a runtime measurement made by Lawn Current.
